A dense native shrub with glossy, ovate bright green leaves that darken with age. New growth is dark crimson in colour. Fluffy white flowers, followed by dark red berries which are edible. |
Position:

Full sun to part shade. Tolerates cold and drought. Suits moist, well drained soils. Space 1m apart for a hedge. |
Care:

Water as required for 8-13 weeks until established. Plant in a well mulched garden (chunky mulch is recommended). Tolerates most situations, but sunny, moist, rich postion is best. If required use slow release fertiliser in spring. Prune yearly for a tidy hedge or every 2-3 years as a screen plant. Water in extreme heat conditions. |
